Adding to the Animal Crossing fun

More Animal Crossing goodness to share! The newest addition to my collection is this adorable case made for the Japanese 3DS LL, which happens to be the same thing as the 3DS XL found in every other Nintendo region.

I debated whether or not to get the case for a while before taking the plunge. I could tell from the sales photos that the case wasn’t as durable or protective as my other DS cases, but the urge to have an entirely matching Animal Crossing set was too cute of a collection to pass up. The clear protective casing around my 3DS XL makes the 3DS a tight fit in the case, but I figure that’s just something I have to deal with when I do decide to use it in the outside world.

The carrying case is made out of a very thick plastic and it’s lined with a white foam inside that provides the 3DS with some cushioning when it’s inserted into the case. (Without my clear plastic casing on my 3DS, the fit would be much smoother.) The cover is held firmly down with two thick elastic strings that are attached to the back. The closure isn’t the most secure type of method for a 3DS case, but it gets the job done when the case is handled with care.

One of the details I like most about the case is its attention to detail. The front, back and the inside (when the cover flap is raised) are covered to the brim with colorful Animal Crossing illustrations of popular characters from the series: Reese, Cyrus, Blathers, Celeste, K.K., Isabelle, Bunnie, Sahara and so many others! The bright colors and friendly illustrations are deliciously gorgeous. Total eye candy.

There are two cases with varying cover designs in marketplaces like Amazon and eBay. Just run a search for “Animal Crossing case” and you’ll see them pop up in the results. Most sellers who have the case available online are located overseas, so with shipping, the total usually averages $25-30. I wouldn’t say that price tag is exactly worth the quality of the product (since less expensive and more protective cases can be found in store for less than $20), but I’d recommend snatching up the case if you can find one for a cheaper price. It could even serve as a nice display piece for any Nintendo and/or Animal Crossing fan!
